Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Operate machine and assess performance
   • Machine is started and stopped according to manufacturer requirements.
   • Machine operation is monitored to ensure correct procedures are assessed and product meets quality standards.
   • Problem with machine is identified and reported.
2. Rectify minor machine fault
   • Minor machine and associated equipment and tool faults are identified and addressed where necessary to meet specified requirements, and are reported.
   • Major machine or product faults are identified and documented, and appropriate personnel informed.
   • Machine maintenance records and other documentation are accurately completed.
3. Clean and lubricate machine
   • Machine is cleaned according to OHS practices and schedules, and manufacturer cleaning instructions.
   • Machine is lubricated according to workplace requirements and schedules, and manufacturer lubricating instructions.
4. Check machine operation
   • Machine is checked to ensure correct operation.

Resource implications	Access is required to real or appropriately simulated situations including work areas materials and equipment and to information on workplace practices and OHS practices
Context for assessment	Assessment may occur on the job or in an appropriately simulated environment
Interdependent assessment	This unit may be assessed independently or in combination with other relevant units
